Biography:
I was born in 1972 and began oil painting in 2004. In my paintings I combine the conscious intellect with the dream world of the sub-conscious to create artworks that bridge the gap between the surreal and the real. I typically paint in a detailled classical style, layering transparent glazes to create durable artworks with attractive optical effects.

I am a committed artist. I believe that what is painted is more important than how, but I also value skill, and I aim to excel in choice of subject and in method of execution.

I believe that a good picture should possess three things; body, the physical appearance of the picture; mind, the meaning on an intellectual level; and soul, the vital feeling, the essential emotion. All great artworks possess these three things. A great artwork is original, it stands alone, it does not require the viewer to know anything about art. A great artwork shows great skill of execution and a powerful imagination. A great artwork is appreciated by small children and intellectual art critics. A great artwork is unforgettable and everlasting.

I aim to make many great artworks over the coming years.

The Spiral Staircase 2008 Released!

The Spiral Staircase Cover

Effectively my first symphony for electronic instruments, The Spiral Staircase is now available to order by CD or download from my website, or other download sites including Apple iTunes.

The Spiral Staircase is an instrumental concept album. The music in The Spiral Staircase is dramatic, and highly rhythmic although there are no percussion instruments. The sound palette consists largely of analogue waves; saw waves, sine waves and filtered white noise. You can listen to clips on The Spiral Staircase page in the CD Albums section of my website.

So, It Has Come To This

Most of my paintings have an associated poem, so this is the poem for the painting of that title. So, It Has Come To This So, in this dead sea. Sky red with sunset's end. Ice floats by the concrete shells, the empty markers of this hell. So, in this hot air. Choked with carbon's green haze. Smoke on water, flows, like acid clothes. Sea sighs. Fall then lift. Fish bodies drift and kiss. Chemical stained beach rocks hiss. So, it has come to this.

Thanks Mark for your welcome.
Yes their is a simularity in our styles, we ask the viewer to take the time to think about what they see.
Our work may not always give instant gratification but has soul and depth.
