WHEN CREATING ART, WHAT COMES FIRST IN YOUR MIND THE MONEY IT GENERATES OR YOUR ARTISTIC SATISFACTION?

I try to get to the real essence of a situation with my art, so for me it has to be artistic satisfaction, though i must admit there are times that shed loads of money would be a very good result.

Biography:
I am a self taught artist from the painting side but i have been drawing for many years. I have had an interest in surreal imagery for many years but only decided to start painting in 2001. I love the freedom it offers me and even though not all of my work's conform to the traditional ideals of Surrealism i am trying to create a new style of surreal imagery using new forms. I want my painting's to expand into a new area within a Surreal style, subrealism, i aim to create new, fresh & exciting imagery.
Events/Exhibitions
I exhibited for the first time in 2007, in a group exhibition called "creative minds 4" at the dome gallery in Braintree in Essex.
Music:
I am a lover of rock music and at the moment i am listening to the Foo fighters and Audioslave.

I never stopped painting, as I said progress is slow as time is limited, also i trash what i am not happy with ...which is usually when i'm trying to paint something to please others and not being true to myself.

Hi Mica,

Thanks for appreciating my work. I realy like all your works, they are totaly interesting with their symbolism. Also your technique is realy appealing. The one I like the most is "Secrets", such an monumental atmosphere like inside an actual pyramid. Hope to see more of your works soon and that you'll check out my page once in a while. I will be adding more artworks soon. Thanks again.

4 bambinos?! You're Superman. I don't know how you keep track of it all. I'm at capacity with twins and I can't imagine more. Must be incredible. Congratulations again.

Michael Thank you for commenting on my work. I find your paintings very interesting; I have drawn a blank on the hidden secret! Congratulations also on the new addition to your family.

Congratulations on the impending birth! That's incredible. Sleep depravation is coming soon. It may leave your mind even more frozen, or it may cause hallucinations which will work well with your surreal images. Either way, though, it's fantastic. Having a kid is even better than all the cliches you hear. I had never been around kids. Didn't really think much about them one way or the other. Then, I had twins and life just expanded. It's just an amazing thing. For men, it seems , the baby is a little abstract at first. Mothers seem to form a more immediate bond. Not always, of course, but typically. But when you see your child's eyes for the first time, or their first smile, their first laugh. Dude, your heart will soar and it just gets better and better with each new stage. Hell, I'm saying this and your probably already have kids. I didn't even ask if this is your first. Anyway, I've got twins and they make me laugh everyday. Best of luck to you.

Mica!

I think you recently asked about time and process for each piece. Each piece is different actually. Some ideas I sketch into a pad so I don't forget them. When time allows, I come back and work on the composition a bit more. Then, I use that sketch on the canvas and start building layers, allowing some room for improvisation and exciting accidents. For some pieces, I'm sure you can tell, I have to spend more time doing the sketch on the canvas first. Other visual ideas I literally think about for months. I flew over the middle of the U.S. for the first time a couple of months ago. I was blown away at the geometry (and flatness) of the landscape. For miles, all the way to the horizon, the topography is broken up into squares, rectangles and massive irrigation circles. It was amazing. I can't wait to commit that to my canvases, but for now those ideas and images rest within my mind. I'll get to those maybe sometime this spring. I hope so, anyway. How about you? What process works best for your work?
